About OPEIU Local 35
The Office and Professional Employees International Union, AFL-CIO, CLC, Local 35 was chartered in 1978 and is part of one of the most diverse International Unions in the United States and Canada. OPEIU members are office, technical and professional employees such as Administrative Assistants, Executive and clerical workers, Helicopter Pilots, Registered Nurses, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Engineers and Field Canvassers to name just a few. OPEIU is the first, and largest, labor union in the United States and Canada dedicated to this diversity of workers.
Joining together in unions is a basic civil right that gives working people a voice on the job and an avenue to equality, fair treatment and economic security. The Union empowers workers to make improvements to their jobs, the lives of their families and their communities. The right to join a union belongs to workers--not their employers.
